Daliya, also known as Broken Wheat, is a minimally processed whole grain product obtained by coarsely grinding whole wheat kernels (Triticum aestivum). It retains all parts of the wheat grain—bran, germ, and endosperm—making it a high-fiber, nutrient-rich, and health-oriented ingredient widely used in traditional and modern diets.
From a nutritional perspective, Daliya is an excellent source of complex carbohydrates, dietary fiber, and essential micronutrients such as iron, magnesium, and B vitamins. It also provides a moderate amount of protein and is naturally low in fat. Its high fiber content supports digestive health, aids in weight management, and helps regulate blood sugar levels, making it suitable for diabetic-friendly diets.
Daliya is commonly used in porridge, upma, khichdi, and soups, and is increasingly incorporated into health foods, multigrain mixes, and functional food products. Its versatility, mild flavor, and nutritional benefits make it a preferred ingredient for wholesome meals.
